Upcoming Litters at Dalry
Dalry Tollers are bred with original purpose, health and temperament at
the forefront. Dalry puppies are bred with an emphasis on correct
working temperament, and while preference is given to homes that will
participate in dog sports, there are always those puppies who will do best
in an active family home, and I welcome inquiries from families who can
provide an active and stimulating lifestyle for a Dalry puppy.
Tollers are the only breed at Dalry. This lets me put all my energy and
thought processes into breeding the best dogs I can and allows me to
work with each of my dogs in multiple dog sports, which gives me a good
understanding of each dogs' strengths and weaknesses. Matching my
girls to the best males I can find for each of them involves many months
or years of research and planning. I generally have some ideas about
where I want to go next! Stud dogs are chosen based on their
temperaments, overall health, my knowledge of their pedigrees and I
always prefer to use a raw-fed, minimally vaccinated stud dog, if that dog
fits my other criteria.
Litters at Dalry are not an annual happening. Generally I breed when I'm
in a position to keep a puppy for myself and I have enough committed
buyers to justify breeding. The amount of time and energy needed to
raise puppies the way I want to raise them means that I cannot manage
more than one litter every 18-24 months. Yes, there may be a wait for a
Dalry puppy, but aren't good things worth waiting for?
"Nina", Ch. Dalry's Fashionably Late WC RN CARO-RN was bred to Diego
Ch. Torlan's Kindred Spirit CGN. I bred Nina's dam Tally to Diego in 2009
and was very pleased with the puppies, so I thought I'd see what I got
with Nina. Puppies were born October 13, 2011. All puppies have been
spoken for.
You can follow Nina's puppies here: Nina's Puppies Blogspot
There will not be another litter at Dalry until 2013. If you like my
philosophy on raising healthy Tollers and would like a puppy in 2012, I
would recommend contacting Cheryl Tomayer at Torlan Tollers in Black
Diamond, AB (just outside Okotoks). Cheryl and Laura share the same
ideas on health and temperament and Cheryl is a careful and committed
breeder. She has plans to breed both SoCo and Tequila in early 2012.
SoCo and Tequila are littermates sired by my Parker.
All litters are raised in the house, with plenty of
activity around them and exposure to the usual
household noises.
In the first two weeks puppies are given Early
Neurological Stimulation, a series of five exercises
performed daily to improve cardiovascular
performance, stimulate stronger heartbeats and the
adrenal system, and to develop better stress
tolerance and disease resistance. You can read more
about BioSensor at: Early Neurological Stimulation
Puppies are introduced to our adult dogs and our cat,
and are exposed to our shop/farm equipment and
moving vehicles. We invite friends to socialize the
puppies from a very early age and they are taken for
walks around our pastures and the neighbouring
fields. We also do our best to litter-train puppies, and
all puppies will have spent time in crates at night.
Puppies are thoroughly checked by our own
veterinarian before leaving Dalry.
