She was so very beautiful, to my eye the perfect Toller bitch. She was also self-serving, sneaky and conniving and a
total PITA to live with. Talented, stunningly smart, birdy, biddable, adept at the Toller Mind Meld, able to open
locking garbage cans and zippers (Donna called it “Child’s play"). She was the best at putting up grouse, swam like
a fish, was obsessed by the smallest edible object. If I was traveling with friends, I would warn them that all items
that might be considered edible had to be placed well out of reach, not just in “impossible to open” containers. She
was single-minded, a great mother to her puppies, sweet to those she knew well, suspicious of those she didn’t.
She was demanding (refer back to that mind meld thing), vocal, inquisitive, strong. She loved to hunt frogs and
mice, wallow in the mud and run down forest trails. In short, she was all Toller. She left this life peacefully very early
this morning under her own terms, for which I will be forever grateful. Darryl and I buried her next to Sharkie as
the sun was coming up this morning.
I am so thankful for the 12 years I had with her, thanks to Donna LaHaise and her breeder Bernie Barber. She was
Best in National Specialty in 2007, Best Opposite Sex 2001 National Specialty (Canada) and 2005 (US), Best
Opposite Sex 2008 BC Regional Specialty. Best Veteran in Specialty and Best Gun Dog in Specialty multiple times.
She was also titled in multiple venues, I’m so very proud of her. She never looked her age, and did a bang-up job
of the US WC in Syracuse in 2007, one month shy of her 10th birthday.
Sleep well Miss Ellie.

Tally was lost to a terrible accident and is deeply missed by her owner, Marie Nestel. Tally
was a beautiful Maverick x Kelsey daughter, smart, fast, driven, ball-crazy. She swam
hard, played hard. She was mother to two beautiful litters of puppies, the first sired by
Diego (Ch. Torlan's Kindred Spirit), the second sired by the imcomparable Rev, Can Am
